Abstract

Religious moderation is a paradigm of Islamic thought that is highly relevant in addressing the dynamics of contemporary social diversity in Indonesia. The background of this study is the increasing potential for identity-based religious conflict that threatens the social cohesion of the nation. This study aims to analyze the concept of religious moderation as a paradigmatic framework for managing social diversity in the contemporary era. The method used is library research with a qualitative-descriptive analytical approach through review of relevant primary and secondary sources. The results show that religious moderation functions as a bridge between religious exclusivism and liberalism, offering the principle of wasatiyyah (the middle path) that affirms the values of tolerance, inclusivity, and public civility. This study concludes that religious moderation is not merely theological discourse, but a strategic instrument for managing diversity that is operational and contextual in Indonesian social reality.
